April 20, 2022, Update: The government of Malaysia announced that additional options would be made available for obtaining employment passes through the Expatriate Service Division (ESD). The three pathways include the following:

  • Schedule a walk-in appointment with the eXpats Service Centre
  • Beginning April 18, 2022, individuals will be able to obtain their pass endorsements at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1 (KLIA)
    • This will be permitted for applicants and their dependents outside of Malaysia and approved under the Employment Pass Categories I, II, and III. As part of this process, companies will receive notification via email and be permitted to download the Confirmation Letter through the eXpats system. Applicants must carry the printed Confirmation Letter when obtaining the endorsement pass

Overview

The government of Malaysia released further information on the endorsement process through the Expatriate Service Division (ESD) which took effect on December 1, 2021. Under this process, companies must upload endorsement documents online through the eXpats’ website. Through the new endorsement processes, companies can:

  • Initiate Foreign Knowledge Worker (FKW) applications online once the FKW has entered Malaysia and uploaded an entry stamp
  • Have their Employment Passes delivered by a representative, or a company may bring the original passport to the ESD center to be affixed with the pass sticker

The Expatriate Service Division of Malaysia released additional measures for the ESD pass endorsement process that went into effect on December 1, 2021.
