The government of Guyana will increase the minimum wage for private-sector workers by 36 percent beginning July 1, 2022. As a result, the minimum wage will rise from GYD 44,200 to GYD 60,147.

What are the Changes?

The government of Guyana will increase the minimum wage requirement for private-sector workers to GYD 60,147 effective July 1, 2022. The government also reinforced that workers should not exceed five work days per week for 40 total hours. Workers who exceed 40 hours in a week must be paid at a minimum rate set out by the Hours and Holiday Act and the country’s labor laws.
