February 3, 2023 Update: The government of China lifted its cap on the number of passengers arriving from Hong Kong and Macao on February 6, 2023. As a result, these travelers will no longer be required to make reservations for travel to China. They will not be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result so long as the traveler has stayed in Hong Kong or Macao for seven days before travel.
If a traveler has been overseas within seven days before travel, they must provide proof of a COVID-19 test result taken 48 hours before arrival.

Overview
On January 8, 2023, the government of China introduced new travel regulations for those traveling to and from Hong Kong and Macao. Travelers from Macao will not be required to undergo testing before arrival so long as they have not traveled overseas seven days before departure for China.
Travelers from Hong Kong will be subject to the following requirements:
- Provide proof of a negative nucleic acid test taken no more than 48 hours before departure for mainland China.
- Undergo examination for COVID-19 symptoms.
- If symptoms are found, the traveler will be required to undergo a raid antigen test.
The government of China will also resume the issuance of applications for tourism and business trips to Hong Kong and Macao.
