Overview
The government of Canada introduced new measures aimed at supporting Iranian temporary residence in Canada and Canadian nationals in Iran. Beginning March 1, 2023, the government will introduce the following criteria:
- Waiving specific processing fees for Iranian nationals seeking to extend their stay in Canada
- Waiving passport and permanent residence travel document fees for citizens and permanent residents of Canada in Iran who wish to leave
- Reducing requirements for Iranian nationals seeking to extend temporary status in Canada and simplifying steps for transitioning between temporary streams to allow Iranian citizens to study, work, and visit family in Canada
The government will continue to maintain these measures until February 28, 2024.
