Overview
The government of Germany will introduce a pilot visa project in China, Morocco, and Turkey in which remonstrations (the act of protesting against a refusal and applying for a new examination of your visa application) will be suspended. In turn, the government will issue amended notices of refusal when turning down a visa application in which the applicants are informed in greater detail about the reasons for the refusal than what was previously provided.
Applicants who received a notice of refusal before June 1 informing them that they could file a remonstration can still have their denial reviewed by the mission abroad within the period stated in the notice.
What are the Changes?
For the next six months, the government of Germany will suspend the process of conducting further reviews of rejected visa applications submitted at embassies in China, Morocco, and Turkey. According to the government, these measures will be taken to test whether missions abroad can increase the number of visa applications processed and reduce visa wait times.
Looking Ahead
The pilot project will run for six months. After that, the government will evaluate the project’s outcome and potentially introduce the pilot project to include other visa categories and locations.
