Improved Core Skills Occupation List for 2024
The government of Australia’s Job and Skills Australia (JSA) introduced a new migration labor market indicator model at the beginning of April 2024. The model will improve the Core Skills Occupations List (CSOL). As a result, several occupations may be removed or added to the list in the coming months.
This initiative by Job and Skills Australia reflects the government’s commitment to aligning migration policies with the evolving needs of the labor market. By introducing a more dynamic and data-driven approach to updating the Core Skills Occupations List, Australia aims to ensure that its immigration system remains responsive to changing economic trends and industry demands. Implementing this new model signifies a proactive effort to accurately identify skill shortages and prioritize recruiting skilled workers who can address critical gaps in the Australian workforce. Additionally, by regularly reviewing and adjusting the CSOL, the government seeks to enhance the effectiveness of its migration programs in supporting economic growth and maintaining Australia’s competitiveness on the global stage.
