Key Points

  • Portugal introduced a new platform and process for foreign nationals seeking to book residence permit appointments

Overview

The government of Portugal introduced a new procedure for booking residence permit appointments. According to the announcement, the new method will speed up pending expressions of interest and allow faster processing of residence permit requests.

With the new procedure, applicants will receive a scheduling proposal after paying the fee.

Foreign nationals with a pending expression of interest process, initiated on the old SAPA Portal on or before April 30, 2023, will receive an email from AIMA to deal with their application. These individuals will then be required to create a new account on the platform and submit any documentation and fee payments. For additional insights on this process, check here.
