  • France introduced a new online filing system for certain visa category types on July 1, 2024

Overview

The government of France will move to an online filing system for individuals submitting extensions to 10-year permits beginning July 1, 2024. After this date, the only applications that can be submitted in person include:

  • Salarié (Employee)
  • Salarié détaché-ICT (ICT Detachment)
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Partners PACSed with a French citizen (a PACS is a French formal civil partnership)

Applications that can be submitted online include:

  • The ten-year resident card with the words “long-term resident-EU.”
  • The ten-year resident card for foreign nationals who meet the conditions for obtaining French nationality
  • The ten-year residence permit is for family reasons (family reunification, foreign national married to a French national, etc.)
  • The ten-year residence certificate for Algerian nationals
  • The ten-year resident card provided with bilateral agreements between France and Morocco, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Benin, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, and Togo.
