Key Points

  • Ireland issued advice for work permit and visa filings submitted throughout the upcoming holiday season

Overview

The government of Ireland announced that the Immigration Services Registration Office in Burgh Quay, Dublin, is facing high volumes of renewal applications for Irish Residence Permit (IRP) cards. Current processing times are three to four weeks. After processing, receiving the new card by post may take another two weeks. An up-to-date IRP card is required for travel to and from Ireland.

Non-EEA nationals planning to travel over Christmas are urged to submit renewal applications online by October 31, 2024, if their current permission expires before or during travel.

Applications submitted after this date may not be processed in time to ensure card delivery before the holidays, though efforts will be made to do so. Please note that the renewal period will be based on the current expiry date, regardless of when the application is submitted.
