Key Points

  • Taiwan will require online completion of the Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) starting October 1, 2025
  • All travelers must submit the form within three days before arrival
  • The system supports multiple languages and group submissions for up to 16 people

Overview

Taiwan has announced that, starting October 1, 2025, all arriving passengers will be required to complete the Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) online within three days before entry. This update replaces the traditional paper-based process and is part of the government’s ongoing effort to modernize border entry procedures and improve efficiency at immigration checkpoints.

The updated TWAC platform features a more intuitive user interface and supports seven languages: Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian. One of its key enhancements includes the automatic extraction of traveler data from a passport photo, which significantly reduces the time spent on form completion and minimizes input errors.

To accommodate families and group travelers, the system permits one individual to submit arrival information for up to 16 people. An email verification step is required to confirm submissions and ensure data accuracy.

To aid compliance, airlines and shipping companies will display QR codes for TWAC registration at check-in counters, enabling travelers who have not yet registered to do so before departure. This approach is expected to streamline traveler processing, reduce paper usage, and support Taiwan’s broader digitalization goals.

Looking Ahead

Travelers to Taiwan should plan to complete the online TWAC submission before their departure date. Businesses coordinating group travel and mobility professionals should ensure that all travelers are aware of the new requirements and have access to the TWAC platform. As implementation begins, updates may follow based on operational feedback. Stakeholders should continue monitoring communications from Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency for any further changes or clarifications.
