Key Points

  • Ontario launched a new employer-led OINP portal on July 1, 2025.
  • Employers must now register job offers electronically.
  • EOIs can be submitted after employer registration.
  • OINP officers may now request in-person interviews.

Overview

Effective July 1, 2025, Ontario rolled out significant updates to its Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), including the launch of a new employer-led electronic application portal. The update transitions the employer job offer streams to a model where employers must first register their business and job offer information before prospective applicants can submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).

This change enhances program efficiency and allows for better alignment between immigration processing and real-time labor needs in the province. Individuals whose EOIs were previously withdrawn are encouraged to coordinate with their employers to submit new entries through the updated system.

Another key update is the introduction of in-person interview requirements. The OINP may now request interviews with both employers and applicants to verify application accuracy and maintain program integrity. Accommodations will be provided where necessary.

Looking Ahead

Employers hiring through the OINP should become familiar with the new portal process and ensure all job offer information is correctly submitted. Applicants should coordinate with sponsoring employers to confirm registration is complete before initiating a new EOI. These changes support Ontario’s broader goal of attracting qualified workers who meet the province’s current labor market demands.
