Key Points

  • Denmark announced that the authorities of the Faroe Islands will take over the processing of all residence permits for the region

Overview

The government of Denmark announced that starting September 1, 2024, the Faroese authorities will handle all residence permit applications for the Faroe Islands, taking over from SIRI and the Danish Immigration Service.

This change applies to new applications, extensions, permanent residence permits, and re-entry permits. However, residence permits under the Ukraine Special Act will still be processed by the Danish Immigration Service.

Applications submitted before September 1, 2024, will be finalized by the Danish Immigration Service.
