Key Points
- Denmark will no longer accept salary declarations made in foreign currencies, effective September 1, 2024
Overview
Beginning September 1, 2024, the government of Denmark will no longer accept salary declarations made in foreign currencies. Instead, the government will only accept applications submitted in Danish Kroner (DKK). If the salary is stated in a foreign currency in the employment contract, there must be an addendum to the contract with the salary in Danish Kroner (DKK).
For applications for an extension of a residence and work permit where the original permit was granted before September 1, 2024, salary stated in a foreign currency will be accepted. The foreign currency will be converted into Danish Kroner (DKK), and a decision regarding the application for extension is based on the exchange rate.
Salary declarations must be made as part of the residence and work permit process and apply to first-time and extension applications.
