Key Points

  • Malaysia will require all companies sponsoring a foreign national to submit several immigration-related tasks online

Overview

Beginning in July 2024, the government of Malaysia will mandate companies sponsoring foreign nationals to use its online platform for various immigration-related tasks. These include:

  • Amending approved applications
  • Shortening or canceling passes
  • Transferring endorsement or adjusting take-up balances
  • Applying for permission to study or work at a second location

Previously, the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) required online filing only for the Employment Pass, Professional Visit Pass, Dependent’s Pass, and Long-Term Social Visit Pass applications. The expanded online system now covers additional applications, offering companies a more efficient way to handle these processes without needing to visit the Malaysian Immigration Department in person.
