Overview
The government of Malaysia has announced new enhancements to its expatriate management system, streamlining the process for Employment Pass (EP) and Professional Visit Pass (PVP) applications. As of June 15, 2023, the new Xpats Gateway platform integrates processes across 26 regulatory agencies, significantly reducing application processing times to three working days for Tier 1, Tier 2, and Critical Sector companies.
In addition, new online services have been introduced to simplify procedures, and a 24/7 Expatriate Satellite Centre (ESC) has been launched at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2. These updates aim to improve Malaysia’s business environment and attract international talent, with a revised fee structure taking effect on September 1, 2024.
