Overview

Mexico has launched Mi Consulado, a centralized digital platform designed to streamline consular services for Mexican nationals living in the United States. The portal, now fully operational, represents a key phase in Mexico’s digital modernization efforts and offers Single Window access to nearly all consular procedures.

Mi Consulado enhances access to services, including appointment scheduling, document submission, and processing for consular certificates and services. It also simplifies the procedure for returning household goods to Mexico by reducing documentation requirements from nine to two and allowing remote submissions. These enhancements are designed to enhance service efficiency and reduce wait times at US consular offices.

This rollout builds on Mexico’s broader digital transformation strategy and aligns with previous efforts to enhance immigration and consular services for nationals abroad.

Looking Ahead

Mexican nationals in the US should begin using Mi Consulado for all applicable consular transactions. Employers and relocation providers should update internal guidance for staff with Mexican citizenship and monitor for additional platform features as Mexico expands its digital infrastructure.
