Immigration Changes
The government of Slovakia introduced new immigration legislation on July 15, 2024. The legislation includes the following changes:
- Employers must electronically submit a “Request for Confirmation on the Possibility to Fill a Vacancy”
- Foreign nationals can start working once they submit a complete application and processing times have been shortened from 90 to 60 days
- Blue Cards, with new salary and educational requirements, will be valid for five years
- Long-Term Residence Permit applicants must prove Slovak language knowledge at level A2 starting July 15, 2025
- Various permits now require bank account statements for the last three months
- Certain applications for a change of purpose will only be possible through Slovak embassies abroad
