Key Points

  • South Africa will no longer require recommendation letters or proof of qualifications for ZEP holders transferring to a General Work Visa

Overview

The government of South Africa has announced that Zimbabwe Exemption Permit (ZEP) holders applying for a General Work Visa (GWV) no longer need to provide a recommendation letter (or ‘labor certificate’) or proof of qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority.

Previously, these requirements could delay the application process by up to 28 weeks. This change aims to streamline the GWV application process for ZEP holders and reduce visa backlogs.

This simplification is a significant step towards improving the efficiency of the General Work Visa application process for Zimbabwe Exemption Permit (ZEP) holders. By removing the need for a recommendation letter and proof of qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority, the government aims to expedite processing times and alleviate the lengthy delays previously experienced. This change supports a more streamlined application procedure and helps address the current visa backlogs, benefiting both employers and employees.
