Overview

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that it will conduct a second random round of selections for the regular FY 2025 H-1B cap season.

USCIS recently determined that it needs to select additional registrations to reach the FY 2025 H-1B cap quota. The second round of selections only applies to the regular cap; the advanced H-1B cap quota has been met. As with the initial lottery in March 2024, USCIS will only select from a pool of adequately filed registrations. For the second lottery, USCIS will only choose from registrations that were initially filed for the FY 2025 H-1B cap season.

USCIS will notify prospective petitioners with registrations selected during the second lottery. They will be eligible to file an H-1B cap-subject petition for the beneficiary named in the selected registration.

USCIS anticipates beginning the second round of selections soon, and it will announce once it has completed the second round of selections and notifications. USCIS will send a selection notice to USCIS online accounts with selected registrations with more information about when and where to file.
