Overview
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced a change in its text alert system. Starting July 1, 2025, applicants will receive official SMS updates from the number 872466 (USAIMM, short for “USA Immigration”), replacing the previous number 468-311 (GOV-311).
For applicants who have opted to receive electronic notifications about their cases by filing Form G-1145, USCIS recommends saving the new number in their contact lists to avoid mistakenly identifying official messages as spam.
Additionally, USCIS cautions the public to remain vigilant against potentially fraudulent activity or scam messages. The agency does not solicit sensitive personal details, financial information, or login credentials via text message. Individuals receiving suspicious communications are encouraged to report them through the official USCIS website.
Looking Ahead
USCIS applicants should save 872466 in their contact lists to ensure they continue receiving timely case updates. Employers and legal representatives should advise foreign national employees who have filed Form G-1145 to do the same. Continued awareness and vigilance are key to avoiding fraud attempts and maintaining secure communication with USCIS. Future changes to notification systems will be published on the USCIS website.
