Overview
On June 25, 2024, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will launch a trial of E-Verify+, streamlining the E-Verify employment eligibility verification process and Form I-9.
The E-Verify+ Program allows employees to directly add their documentation and personal information to the E-Verify+ portal. Employers can then review and approve the documentation. Once the employee and employer have electronically signed Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, the form is complete and can be downloaded or archived.
If an employee’s employment authorized status cannot be verified immediately, they will be contacted directly rather than waiting for a further action notice. This improvement is another USCIS initiative to reduce processing times and delays that slow the verification process.
With the new system, most employees who have been previously verified will retain that status with successive employers.
For convenience, E-Verify+ cases are handled in the exact locations as traditional E-Verify cases.
