Overview

India is expanding its consular service footprint in the United States (US) with the opening of eight new Indian Consular Application Centers (ICACs). The new centers, located in Boston, MA; Columbus, OH; Dallas, TX; Detroit, MI; Edison, NJ; Orlando, FL; Raleigh, NC; and San Jose, CA, will bring the total number of ICACs in the US to 17, with an additional location in Los Angeles expected to launch soon.

The ICACs offer a full range of services critical to Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin, including visa processing, Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) applications, passport renewals, renunciation of Indian citizenship, police clearance certificates, and attestation of documents. All centers will now operate six days a week, including Saturdays, and will offer added conveniences such as free document support and integrated courier services.

This expansion reflects India’s commitment to enhancing consular access and delivering services to its diaspora of over 5.3 million Indian nationals residing in the US. It also reinforces ongoing diplomatic and cultural ties between India and the United States.

Looking Ahead

Employers, mobility professionals, and individuals managing Indian-origin employees in the US should take advantage of these expanded consular locations. Faster access to services and extended hours can streamline critical documentation timelines, particularly for time-sensitive travel, family-based filings, or citizenship procedures. Continued expansion in Los Angeles and beyond may follow as demand grows.
