Overview

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the launch of a mandatory UAE Advertiser Permit for social media creators, effective three months from August 2025. The permit will apply to all individuals aged 18 and older who promote third-party products or services, whether the content is paid or unpaid. This regulatory measure aims to raise transparency, professional standards, and content quality in the digital advertising space.

The Advertiser Permit will be issued free of charge for the first three years and must be prominently displayed on registered social media accounts. Only accounts linked to the permit may publish promotional content, and some content categories may require prior approval.

For visiting content creators, the UAE Media Council will introduce Visitor Advertiser Permits. These permits must be obtained through licensed UAE-based advertising or talent agencies and will be valid for three months, renewable once. Exemptions include individuals promoting their own businesses and minors engaged in cultural, educational, or awareness activities, provided they comply with age classification laws.

This initiative aligns with the UAE’s broader strategy to regulate emerging sectors, safeguard consumer trust, and establish a framework for responsible digital promotion. For additional updates, see Corporate Immigration Partners’ UAE insights.

Looking Ahead

Businesses collaborating with influencers and digital creators should prepare for compliance with the new Advertiser Permit requirements. Companies should review contracts, update due diligence processes, and ensure all promotional activities align with the UAE’s regulatory framework. Monitoring future updates from the UAE Media Council will be essential, as further refinements may shape the scope and enforcement of these advertising regulations.
