February 15, 2022 Update: On February 14, 2022, Canada released the 2022-2024 Immigration Levels Plan, increasing the target goal of permanent residents to 431,645 for the year 2022. According to the government, this increase will be made possible through the digitization of the Canadian immigration system. The digitization of the system aims to reduce backlogs and create more predictable processing times for current and new immigrants in Canada.
February 11, 2022 Update: On February 8, 2022, the government of Canada announced plans to launch a new digital case status tracker that will allow some family class permanent residence applicants, sponsors, and their representatives to check application status online. Initially, the tracker will be made available to permanent residence applicants’ spouses, partners, and dependent children. For access to the tracker, eligible applicants should visit the Permanent Residence Family Class Application Tracker site. The government aims to use the tracker to reduce application processing time and create a more transparent immigration system.

On January 31, 2022, Canada’s government announced measures to improve client experience and modernize the Canadian immigration system. The following changes have been or will be introduced:
