Overview
On Wednesday, October 7, the US Department of State will open registration for the Diversity Visa 2022 lottery. Registration begins at 12:00 pm EDT on October 7, 2020, and ends on November 10, 2020, at noon EDT.
Who is Eligible?
For the 2022 DV lottery, up to 55,000 diversity immigrant visas will be allocated to applicants from countries with historically low immigration rates to the US Eligibility will vary by country. Individuals born in Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom and its dependent territories, and Vietnam are not eligible to apply. Individuals born in Taiwan and Macau SAR are qualified.
How to Apply
To apply, applicants must register online through the State Department’s e-DV website. Entries are limited to one person. Multiple entries will disqualify the entrant. The State Department notes that paper applications will not be accepted for the 2022 DV lottery. Additionally, applicants are advised to register early to avoid processing delays during the final week of registration.
When will Registrants Receive DV 2022 Lottery Results?
Registrants will be notified if they have been selected through the e-DV website starting on May 8, 2021. Registrants will receive a confirmation number after successfully applying. Lottery winners will be chosen randomly.
