The Directorate General of Immigration (DGI) has published a new announcement regarding the latest options for visa and permit holders in Indonesia and abroad, with valid or expired documents, as follows:
- ITAP holders who are currently in Indonesia with a valid ITAP can have an extension processed at the local immigration office. Holders of an expired ITAP must either leave Indonesia before August 20 or apply for a new limited stay visa (VTT) or visit visa in-country
- ITAS holders who are currently in Indonesia with a valid ITAS can either have an extension processed or convert their ITAS to ITAP at the local immigration office. Holders of an expired ITAS that cannot be extended must leave Indonesia before August 20
- ITAP or ITAS holders who are currently abroad with an expired ITAP or ITAS (with a valid or expired MERP) can either enter Indonesia after obtaining an approval letter from the ministry or technical institution (RPTKA/notification) or, if this is not possible, apply for a new limited stay visa (VTT) to enter Indonesia. Holders of an expired ITAP or ITAS (with a valid or expired MERP) that is sponsored by their spouse can directly enter Indonesia. An extension of the ITAP/ITAS and MERP must be done before September 8, 2020, which might be extended to December 31 in case of a technical issue during the extension process
- Single-Entry Visit Visa holders who are currently in Indonesia with a valid visa can extend their visa or convert it to an ITAS at the local immigration office. If the visa is expired and cannot be extended, they must leave Indonesia before August 20 unless there is no transportation out of the country, in which case the visa can be extended for periods of 30 days until the COVID-19 crisis is declared over; or they can apply for a limited stay visa (VTT) or visit visa in-country
- Multiple-Entry Visit Visa holders who are currently in Indonesia with an expired visa 1) must leave Indonesia before August 20 unless there is no transportation out of the country, in which case the visa can be extended for periods of 30 days until the COVID-19 crisis is declared over; 2) can apply for a limited stay visa (VTT) or visit visa in-country, or 3) can convert their visa to an ITAS
- APEC Business Travel Cardholders who are currently in Indonesia with an expired 60-day stay must leave Indonesia before August 20 unless there is no transportation out of the country, in which case the stay can be extended for periods of 30 days until the COVID-19 crisis is declared over; or they can apply for a limited stay visa (VTT) or visit visa in-country
- Visa on Arrival (VOA) holders who are currently in Indonesia with an expired visa that cannot be extended must leave Indonesia before August 20 unless there is no transportation out of the country, in which case the visa can be extended for periods of 30 days until the COVID-19 crisis is declared over; or they can apply for a limited stay visa (VTT) or visit visa in-country
- Foreign nationals who are currently in Indonesia under a visa exemption must leave Indonesia before 20 August, or they can apply for a new limited stay visa (VTT) or visit visa in-country
- Foreign nationals currently in Indonesia who already have a telex visa that was issued after December 1, 2019 can apply for an ITAS or a visit visa in-country
