Overview
The government of Ireland introduced a range of measures to accelerate the international protection application processing timeline. Beginning January 31, 2024, nationals of Botswana and Algeria will be designated safe countries of origin when making claims for international protection in Ireland. Currently, this list includes the following:
Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, North Macedonia (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), Montenegro, Serbia and South Africa.
