Key Points
- Israel will fully launch its electronic travel authorization system for visa-exempt nationals beginning July 1, 2024
Overview
The government of Israel will open its Electronic Travel Authorization System (ETA-IL) for application submissions on June 1, 2024. Initially, the program will be open as a pilot phase for holders of American and German passports. During this phase, applications will be voluntary and exempt from fees.
Beginning July 1, 2024, ETA-IL will be available for visa-exempt nationals entering the country for short-term purposes, excluding work, volunteering, and study. The system will become mandatory for travelers on August 1, 2024.
Applications must be submitted at least 72 hours before travel. Upon approval, ETA-IL will be valid for up to two years and permit a maximum stay of 90 days for multiple entries.
According to the announcement, ETA-IL will simplify the entry process for visa-waivered nationals. Check here for eligibility requirements.
