Overview

The government of Sweden introduced new requirements under its EU Blue Card policy. These changes are expected to enter into force on November 18, 2023. These new measures include:

  • Highly skilled foreign nationals who hold an employment contract for a period of six months will now be permitted to apply for the authorization
  • More flexibility when it comes to converting to an EU Blue Card from another work authorization type
  • Holders of an EU Blue Card granted by another European Union (EU) member state will be permitted to enter Sweden to conduct business for a maximum period of 90 days within any 180-day period
