The US State Department has provided updates for delays on routine and expedited passport services.
What are the Changes?
Currently, routine passport processing may take up to 18 weeks from the day that the application is submitted to the date that the applicant receives a new passport. This time period accounts for 12 weeks of processing and six weeks to mail. Applicants can expect a total processing time of 12 weeks for expedited passport processing. This includes six weeks for processing and six weeks for mailing.
The State Department has advised individuals to apply at least six months before they plan to travel. Additionally, travel appointments and in-person services at passport centers and agencies cannot be guaranteed at the present time. Information on the services available at individual passport centers is available on the State Department’s Passport Agency and Center page.
