Overview

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it has received enough electronic H-1B registrations during the initial registration period to reach the fiscal year (FY) 2025 congressionally mandated H-1B cap.

USCIS randomly selected enough correctly submitted H-1B cap registrations for unique beneficiaries to satisfy the FY 2025 H-1B cap quota.

USCIS has also notified all prospective petitioners with selected beneficiaries that they may file an H-1B cap-subject petition for the beneficiary.

Registrants will see one of several messages in their online accounts:

Submitted: The registration remains eligible, unless invalidated, for selection in any subsequent selection periods for FY 2025.

Selected: Selected to file an H-1B cap petition.

Not Selected: Ineligible to file an H-1B cap petition.

Denied – Duplicate Registration: Multiple registrations were submitted by or on behalf of the same registrant for the same beneficiary. If denied as a duplicate registration, all registrations submitted by or on behalf of the same registrant for this beneficiary for the fiscal year are invalid.

Deleted: The submitted registration has been deleted and is no longer eligible for selection.

Selected Beneficiaries May Now File H-1B Cap Petitions

Starting today, April 1, 2024, USCIS will allow FY 2025 H-1B cap-subject petitions to be filed for a selected beneficiary based on a valid registration.

USCIS notes that the H-1B cap petition filing period will last 90 days, with the relevant filing dates noted in the underlying selection notice.
