Key Points

  • The United Kingdom published further insights and deadlines for travelers to register under its Electronic Travel Authorization system

Overview

The United Kingdom’s (UK) government introduced changes to its immigration rules on September 10, 2024. These changes will go into effect over the next several months:

  • Effective September 10, 2024, Jordan has been added to the list of visa nationals. As a result, Jordanian nationals must obtain a visitor visa before traveling to the UK
  • Those who have been granted ETA before September 10, 2024, will be permitted to use ETA to travel to the UK until October 8, 2024
    • The ETA National List has been introduced. The list includes all visa-exempt nationals. These individuals will instead be required to obtain ETA before traveling
    • ETA will become effective for all nationals under the list beginning November 27, 2024
    • All other countries, except EU member states, will be required to obtain ETA permissions by January 8, 2024
    • EU member states, and all other countries will require ETA for entry beginning April 2, 2025
  • Introducing new Diplomatic Visa Arrangement (from February 18, 2025) and VIP Delegates (October 10, 2024)
