Overview

The government of Malaysia will introduce a new centralized platform called Xpats Gateway that will allow employers to apply for support letters issued by the respective approving agencies responsible for approving Employment Pass (EP) applications. The platform will be rolled out in phases beginning June 15, 2023.

Once a support letter has been issued, employers can proceed to the ESD Online webpage to complete the final application process for the EP.

For additional information on the appropriate approving agency, check here. Employers applying for a support letter must continue to apply under regular support letter issuing procedures until August 15, 2023.

What are the Changes?

The government of Malaysia introduced a new centralized platform for completing aspects of the EP application process. According to the government announcement, these measures will help to digitize parts of the immigration process in Malaysia while creating a more business-friendly experience.
