Key Point

  • Namibia will introduce visa requirements for countries with non-reciprocal visa agreements beginning in 2025

Overview

Beginning April 1, 2025, Namibia will introduce visa requirements for countries that do not maintain a visa waiver policy for their citizens. These will include Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. These travelers will be required to apply for a visa on arrival.

In addition, the government will also increase visa fees for travelers arriving from non-African Union (UA) member states.

This policy change by the Namibian government, set to take effect on April 1, 2025, marks a significant shift in the country’s visa regulations. Namibia is asserting its stance on equitable travel policies by introducing visa requirements for countries without reciprocal visa waiver agreements. The inclusion of nations such as Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK, and the US in this new requirement underscores Namibia’s importance in reciprocal international relations. Moreover, the increase in visa fees for travelers from non-African Union member states highlights the government’s focus on regional integration and prioritizing travelers from within the African continent. These changes will likely impact travel dynamics to Namibia, urging travelers to stay informed and prepared for the new visa processes.
