The government of Oman will require all foreign-owned companies to employ at least one Omani national within one year of operation as of April 1, 2024.

Employers must also register this employee with the Social Protection Fund. Companies failing to hire an Omani within the deadline will have a 30-day grace period, which can be extended once. Penalties may include restrictions on certain transactions on the Oman Business Platform.
