Overview
The FY 2022 H-1B electronic registration period opens today, March 9, at 12:00 pm EST. Registration will remain open until March 25, 2021 at 12:00 pm EST.
Background
This year is the second year that US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is using an electronic registration process.
What Should Employers and Applicants Know?
Registrants and petitioners will need to create a new myUSCIS online account if they don’t have one already. Those with an existing H-1B registrant account are not required to create a new one.
Petitioners must submit an electronic registration for every prospective H-1B cap-subject candidate during the electronic registration period. Registrations must be completed through the myUSCIS online account. A $10 filing fee is required for every registration.
As a reminder, registrations cannot be submitted after the registration period closes on March 25, 2021. Priority is not given to early submissions.
Looking Ahead
After the registration period ends, USCIS will use a random lottery selection process to select registrations if there are more registrations than available H-1B visas. USCIS will send registration selection notifications to registrants and their representatives through their myUSCIS accounts no later than March 31, 2021.
Petitioners whose registrations are selected may file full H-1B petitions between April 1, 2021 and June 30, 2021.
