Key Points

  • Finland will update the appearance of its passport and identification cards, along with modifying the process for express delivery

Overview

The government of Finland will update the appearance of its passports and identification cards, including residence permit cards, beginning March 13, 2023. According to the government update, the changes will have no effect on the validity of previously issued passports, identity cards, or residence permit documents.

The delivery process for these documents will also be modified to include an express delivery option for individuals located in select cities in Finland. Holders of valid passports and identification cards will not be required to apply for a new card until the current card has expired.

What are the Changes?

The government of Finland will introduce new passport and identification cards in mid-March 2023. According to the announcement, these changes will be made as a result of a new provider assisting in the creation of these documents.
